Jack Frost History
According to mycologist Caine Barlow, Jack Frost magic mushrooms owe their existence to Dave Wombat, who skillfully crossed and isolated Albino Penis Envy (APE) mushrooms with Wombat True Albino Teacher (TAT) mushrooms.
In the short time that the Jack Frost strain has been around, this mushroom is quickly gaining popularity among psychonauts of all levels. Jack Frost mushrooms belong to the Psilocybe cubensis family and as albino mushrooms, the all-white colour is believed to signal higher levels of psilocybin and psilocin.
Jack Frost Mushroom Appearance
Named after their frosty appearance, Jack Frost mushrooms look like they’ve been lightly covered in a layer of fresh snow. The medium caps start off as flat and white, but as the mushroom matures and drops its spores, they curve upwards. As for the stems, they’re medium to thick sized.
Even when dried, Jack Frost mushrooms will keep their impressive size and pale colour. Depending on the harvest, drying, or transportation, you may notice light or dark blue spots on the shrooms. These spots are called “bruising” and are completely normal.
Magic Mushroom Benefits
Aside from recreational use, interest in magic mushrooms for therapeutic purposes is growing in Canada. Canadians are now looking to psilocybin-assisted therapy for potential treatments of mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and addiction.
More clinical trials are underway, but this is a step in the right direction for more evidence-based research to support the growing benefits of magic mushrooms. However, magic mushrooms should not be a replacement for your existing treatment plan.
If you have a family history of severe mental illness, psychedelics can potentially become a trigger for the sudden onset and development of symptoms.
Jack Frost Mushroom Effects
Prepare yourself for enhanced colours, sounds, and smells. Known as the best mushroom strain for visuals, Jack Frost mushrooms offer a potent experience with euphoric psychedelic effects. At higher doses, you may experience strong auditory and visual hallucinations, time dilation, and changes to your thoughts, mood, and perception.
Magic mushrooms contain psilocybin and psilocin, the compounds responsible for psychedelic and hallucinogenic effects that make you “trip”. A shroom trip can take effect in 20 to 40 minutes and last an average of 3 to 6 hours.
How long the effects last will depend on the amount taken, your size, tolerance, and whether you’ve taken other drugs or medications. Depending on the shroom dosage, users report feeling a boost in creativity, spirituality, introspection, and mood.
Jack Frost Mushroom Recommendations
For a magical experience, you need to properly prepare for it. Your set (mind) and setting (environment) can shape your entire trip. Take a moment to check in with yourself mentally–heavy thoughts and negative feelings can potentially lead to a bad trip.
For the setting, choose an environment you feel comfortable in. Tripping in nature is a great option, as long as it’s in an open space away from crowds. If you prefer to stay indoors, make sure your space is clean and clutter-free.
Take Jack Frost mushrooms with people you trust and have at least one sober trip sitter nearby for support if you need it. And don’t forget the basics—keep some food, snacks, and water nearby to stay fueled and hydrated since mushroom trips can last for hours.
